Halloween Countdown Blocks

Over this past weekend my sister and I made these Halloween countdown blocks! We had so much fun making them together and LOVE the way the turned out!

How we made them:

Step 1:
We sanded the sides and edges of two 3.5x3.5 sized blocks and one 7 inch long 2x4.

Step 2:
We painted the full 2x4, but only the edges of the 3.5x3.5 blocks.

Step 3:
After the paint dried, we sanded the edges to give a more aged look to the blocks.

Step 4:
We cut a variety of Halloween themed/colored paper to the size of 3-1/4 inch by
3-1/4 inch and inked the edges with a dark ink. We cut a total of 12 pieces, 6 to each block.

Step 5:
We applied Modge Podge to the backside of the paper and adhered it to the blocks, one piece to each side of both blocks.
**Some of the paper we used was textured and it gave the blocks a really cool look.

Step 6:
Using my trusty Cricut, we cut out numbers and applied them to the tops of the paper using Modge Podge.
We put numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the sides of block one, with number 5 on top and 0 on bottom.
On block two we applied numbers 1, 2, 6, and 7 to the sides, with 8 on top and 0 on bottom.
**Note that the 6 doubles as the 9.

Step 7:
We did a final Modge Podge coat over each side to really seal the paper to the block.

Step 8:
Also using the Cricut, we cut out the letters for Halloween in cream vinyl, along with an orange pumpkin for the "O" and sealed it on to the 2x4 with a coat of Modge Podge over the top.

And since, Christmas is just right around the corner, we also made a Christmas countdown!
